It's been a while, but here's some linky love and something to ponder:
We are living in a culture entirely hypnotized by the illusion of time, in which the so-called present moment is felt as nothing but an infinitesimal hairline between an all-powerfully causative past and an absorbingly important future. We have no present. Our consciousness is almost completely preoccupied with memory and expectation. We do not realize that there never was, is, nor will be any other experience than present experience. We are therefore out of touch with reality. We confuse the world as talked about, described, and measured with the world which actually is. We are sick with a fascination for the useful tools of names and numbers, of symbols, signs, conceptions and ideas.

Well kinda.
Work is killing me. We've reached maximum capacity on our projects at work. It's crazy. I'm busier than ever, but this is usually our quieter time to catch up on maintenance and stuff. And, there's really no end in sight. I'm hoping that we slow down at some point. I'm not sure how long my team can keep up this level of work. I'm working at least two night a week through the end of the year. O.o
I'm attempting to train for a 10 mile race in February. It's been a bit difficult with the weather, since running in sub zero temps and wind is a bit beyond me. Joni took me out Sunday and helped me pick some really spiff cold weather running gear. Thank you!! Of course, I didn't get to run last night (I need to catch up) because, of course, work all night long. O.o I'm hoping I can do my long run tonight, maintenance on Thursday and then be back on the awesome schedule that Joni made for me.
I've quit smoking. It's hard. I do really well sometimes. Other times, I want to rip people's throats out. I think nicotine makes me a nice person. I dunno.
I've read 102 books so far this year. At 100 books that was almost 40,000 pages. At first, I felt like a freak. Then I really thought about it. I read instead of watching television. I have one series that I kind of follow that will be ending soon. For the most part, I don't watch that much tv. I looked at the books I read. I read a few non fiction ones. Mostly, I read mysteries, horror, etc. I read a lot of series. I think those are the book equivalent to television. I think that means I'm not that much different than everyone else. I just get my entertainment delivered differently. (That and my natural ADD means that I have a difficult time sitting still to watch things. *squirrel*)
My home life is in chaos and flux. I'm not ready to talk about it beyond one or two people. If I seem off, it's because the stress is hitting me from what seems like most sides.
Even with the stress, I know how lucky I am. All chaos is transient and peace will be restored eventually. All things change.

2012 is supposed to be a time of big changes and cataclysm and all of that, if you believe the shtick their trying to sell us. I've heard everything from the end of the world with big explosions to humans reaching a higher vibrational level and becoming pure energy. I'm a bit sceptical of these things. I have, however, decided to make 2012 a year of change in my life. If I'm going to continue to live where I do with the stress I live with, I need to make some changes or explode. Watch this space. I hope to have done some serious personal, professional and social transforming by the end of the year. I'm hoping it's a wild ride! :D

I'm taking a break from my usual self involved rantings to bring you this important public service announcement:
September is prostate cancer awareness month. I know we hear all about the different kinds of cancers out there that can kill us, but this one's fairly important. In a few short weeks, we'll be inundated with pink to raise our awareness of breast cancer. Did you know that "prostate and testicular cancers kill just as many men as breast cancer kills women." I didn't, which is odd considering my great grandmother died from breast cancer and my grandfather died after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. That quote is from the Kilted to Kick Cancer website. These guys have come up with a humorous way to raise awareness about a very serious issue. We've all got men in our lives: fathers, friends, significant others, sons. Check out their website. If you feel like it, donate some money to one of the organizations linked. Pass the word along.
We now return to my regularly scheduled whining and introspection. :)
